Day 1: Arrival in Paro (2,250 meters)
Arrive at Paro International Airport and be welcomed by the serene beauty of the Paro Valley. After settling in, visit the historic Rinpung Dzong and the National Museum, where you’ll get your first glimpse into Bhutan’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Spend the evening in Paro preparing for the trek ahead.
Day 2: Paro – Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery (3,120 meters)
Begin your acclimatization with a rewarding hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, dramatically perched on a cliff at 3,120 meters. The climb offers stunning views of the valley and an excellent introduction to Bhutan’s spiritual landscape. Return to Paro in the afternoon and enjoy a peaceful night before the trek begins.
Day 3: Paro to Shana (2,850 meters)
Drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, the starting point of your trek, and begin your hike through lush forests and picturesque river valleys. After 5–6 hours of gentle walking, arrive at Shana (2,850 meters) and settle into camp surrounded by tranquil nature.
Day 4: Shana to Soi Thangthangkha (3,750 meters)
Continue trekking along the Pa Chu River, passing through beautiful pine and rhododendron forests. This is a long yet scenic day, taking 7–8 hours as you gradually ascend to Soi Thangthangkha (3,750 meters). Enjoy the stillness of the mountains as you camp for the night.
Day 5: Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang (4,040 meters)
Trek toward Jangothang, the base camp of Mount Jomolhari. After about 5–6 hours on the trail, arrive at one of Bhutan’s most breathtaking campsites, framed by sweeping alpine vistas and the towering peak of Jomolhari. Spend the evening soaking in the mountain atmosphere.
Day 6: Jangothang – Acclimatization Day (4,040 meters)
Take a full day to acclimatize at Jangothang. Choose an exploratory hike to Tsophu Lake or toward the Jomolhari Glacier, both offering spectacular views. Return to camp for a restful night in preparation for the high passes ahead.
Day 7: Jangothang to Yaktsa (Dhumzo) (3,800 meters)
Cross the high Bhonte La Pass (4,890 meters), enjoying dramatic Himalayan scenery before descending into the Yaktsa Valley. Today’s trek lasts 7–8 hours, ending at the peaceful Yaktsa campsite (3,800 meters), surrounded by open meadows and mountains.
Day 8: Yaktsa to Thombu Shong (4,180 meters)
Climb toward Tagulun La Pass (4,520 meters) and enjoy panoramic views before descending into the picturesque Thombu Shong Valley. After a 5–6 hour trek, set up camp at 4,180 meters and enjoy the calm alpine environment.
Day 9: Thombu Shong to Paro (2,250 meters)
Begin your final trekking day by crossing Thombu La Pass (4,380 meters) before making a long descent to Shana. From there, continue hiking to Drukgyel Dzong, where your vehicle will be waiting. Drive back to Paro and relax for the evening, celebrating the successful completion of your trek.
Day 10: Departure from Paro (2,250 meters)
